A Cumbrian MP met with the Minister for Women and Equalities to show their support for the Government's plans to tackle violence against women and girls.
Carlisle MP Julie Minns met with Anneliese Dodds recently to give her backing to the new Government's 'unprecedented ambition' of halving violence against women and girls within the next ten years.
Almost 100 domestic abuse related offences were recorded by police across the country every hour last year.
Ms Minns said: "Achieving this mission will require a transformation in the way we work together on this issue across government, public services, charities and the private sector, and we will use all of the levers available to us to deliver it.
"The Government has already taken significant steps to transform the policing response to these heinous crimes – including announcing Raneem’s Law, which will see domestic abuse specialists placed in 999 control rooms, the long-overdue roll out of the pilot for new Domestic Abuse Protection Orders and rolling out Independent Legal Advocates for rape victims next year."
