FOR this Nostalgia edition we will be taking a look at St Nicholas Day.
Celebrated across mainland Europe, St. Nicholas has reputation as a bringer of gifts. Children will often receive a small gift, such as their shoes will be filled with sweets.
It is celebrated as a Christian festival with particular regard to Saint Nicholas, as well as through the attendance of church services.
St. Nicholas is the inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus. He's also the patron saint of children, sailors, and many cities.
St. Nicholas's life is an example of how to show God's love to others, especially those in need. He was known for giving his large inheritance to the poor after his parents died.
These pictures show how the modern depiction of St Nicholas, Santa Claus, has been celebrated across Cumbria. We hope that these photos bring back some fond memories for some of you.
