A SPECIAL festive performance will be coming to Carlisle Cathedral this winter.

The Piccadilly Sinfonietta will be coming to the Cathedral for a performance of Vivaldi Four Seasons, Christmas by Candlelight.

Their solo violinist is Victoria Lyon of Escala, who currently lives in Carlisle.

The show is set to take place at the Cathedral on Sunday, December 29.

In a post on social media, Carlisle Cathedral wrote: "Victoria comes from a large musical family. Four of her older siblings played stringed instruments so it was only natural for her to pick up the violin at the age of six.

"She gained a Specialist Musician scholarship to Wells Cathedral School and was then awarded The Foundation Scholarship to the Royal College of Music.

"Victoria was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

"Soon after completing her RCM Postgraduate Degree, Victoria joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as it’s youngest member.

"When she is not touring as a soloist, Victoria still enjoys performing and recording with various UK symphony orchestras - including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and London Chamber Orchestra."

Tickets range from £20 to £45 and are available on the Carlisle Cathedral website.
