A new Penrith pub and hotel has enjoyed a 'lovely' opening night and 'fun' first week.
The Agricultural Inn was officially opened to the public on Thursday, November 21, with the former hotel on Penrith's Castlegate, which ceased trading in June, brought back to life by MTM Venues.
MTM Venus is made up of business partners Megan McCall and Thomas McLaughlin who are operating the new pub and hotel as part of an agreement with Valiant Pub Company who put forward the funds for The Argicultural's refurbishment.
After the pub and hotel's launch, Megan was on hand to express her delight at the local response.
She said: "We had a lovely opening night with everyone who could make it and are super grateful for the mayor coming to cut the ribbon and pour a pint behind the bar with us.
"Our first week has been so much fun, the staff are finding their feet and the kitchen team is getting in a good flow.
"So far we’ve had some incredibly lovely feedback and are appreciative of any suggestions or constructive feedback anyone has given us.
"The opening week has been an overall success and we’ve had so much fun seeing everyone enjoy 'the aggi' being back open again.
"We hope to only improve and provide the best service and food we can for our guests in the following weeks and have a fabulous festive season."
For Megan, The Agricultural Inn under its new management will commit to championing its local community and creating a 'family-friendly' environment.
Speaking previously, she said: "We are going to be dog-friendly and family-friendly and we are going with a traditional pub menu.
"We have got the hotel as well which will have a lot of passing traders but we are hoping that we can make it a pub for the locals with the tourists who come being an added bonus.
"We don't want to focus on tourism too much and isolate the locals, we want it to be the place where the locals want to come and get together.
"We want it to have that warm and welcoming atmosphere where we can get to know the local customers who come in on a regular basis, have that banter over the bar and we want them to feel looked after."
