WE shared the news that Carlisle's new Uber-style app is booming with more than 5,000 customers now registered and actively using the service after only seven weeks since it launched.
Tap A Taxi, which began with just a handful of drivers, now boasts over 40 committed drivers ferrying customers around the city.
The app was created as a solution to the challenges people in Carlisle faced when trying to find a taxi, and it seems the local community has embraced this tech solution.
Here's what readers thought.
Serene Carey Mc Geoghegan said: "Wouldn’t this be great for transporting people that can’t drive or not able to drive anymore who are stuck in rural areas, particularly the elderly. Not everyone drives."
Lee Ingledow said: "It's exactly what's needed. Definitely the future of taxis in the area."
The Facebook page Slimming World with Emmz #slimwithemmz Carlisle commented: "Fabulous to see it's being successful."
Russell Donaldson added: "Tap A Taxi going from strength to strength."
In the longer term, there are plans to extend the app's reach across all of Cumbria. The app is available for download on both Apple and Android devices.
