An urgent recall has been issued for several batches of Coca-Cola bottles.
The manufacturer, Coca-Cola European Partners, published safety advice for opening the Coca-Cola Original Taste 1.5 litre PET bottles as the items may have damaged neck rings.
Coca-Cola said the bottle might have a sharp rim edge which could present a safety risk on opening.
'Check bottle before opening'
A spokesman from Coca-Cola European Partners said: "As a precaution, you should examine the bottle neck ring carefully before opening.
"If you see damage to the bottle neck ring, open the bottle with care and ensure that your hand is placed on the cap and above the bottle neck when opening the bottle.
"Product safety notices will be displayed in retail stores that are selling this product.
"These notices explain to customers what precaution they should take when opening the product."
Which bottles have been recalled?
The 1.5L bottles with a best before date of September 30, 2020 and contain one of the following batch codes - 083EK3TT:TT, 084EK3TT:TT, 085EK3TT:TT, 086EK3TT:TT, 087EK3TT:TT, 088EK3TT:TT, 089EK3TT:TT, 090EK3TT:TT.
What to do if you have bought a bottle on the recall list
Those who have concerns or are unable to open the bottle safely should keep the bottle unopened and call the helpline on 0800 22 77 11.
