A team of appliance experts have revealed five items that should never touch your tumble dryer.

Households with tumble dryers will know how expensive the appliances are to buy - never mind run.

On average, they cost between £300- £600 to purchase which means they're an investment that you will not want to make regularly. 

Although they can last up to 13 years, problems with tumble dryers can develop quickly when they are not looked after.

Items with Metal Parts

Avoid putting items with metal components, such as bras with underwire or clothing with large metal buttons, in the tumble dryer. The metal can damage the drum, create noise, and potentially lead to malfunctions.

Shoes

Putting shoes or sneakers in the tumble dryer can damage both the shoes and the appliance.

The tumbling action may lead to noise and potential harm to the dryer drum. It's better to air-dry shoes.

Dryer Sheets or Fabric Softener Towels

While these are commonly used in dryers, some manufacturers recommend against using them as they can leave residue on the lint filter and reduce the dryer's efficiency over time.
