WE shared the news that a popular town in the heart of the Lake District has been named among Britain's top five summer hot spots.

Data from Cottages.com shows that 37 per cent of bookings include at least one pet, signalling that pet-friendly holidays are as popular as ever.

With Keswick coming in second, other popular locations made the top 10 list including Skegness, Newquay, and Whitby.

The travel company is seeing more locations in the south of England feature in the ‘top 10 locations for a staycation’ compared to Easter 2023.

Here's what readers thought of the news.

Matt Rambaut said: "Hope all the visitors treat the wonderful area with respect."

Ted Wales said: "We are from the US and we love the Lake District."

Carole Brown said: "We are at the Lakes Keswick now, it is beautiful and the weather is boiling, hope next week's the same."

Simon Hawthorn added: "Just at the end of a beautiful week in the Lakes. I’ve never known so many people about here. Also how little water there is in the becks, rivers and lakes themselves. Please be careful with your usage if you visit."

One web user said: "I love Keswick, great restaurants, plenty of accommodation, lots of good walking nearby and fond memories of climbing on Falcon Crag when I was a younger man than today."
