WE shared the news that Tullie has confirmed that their grand reopening has been pushed back until autumn.

The iconic museum and art gallery in Carlisle closed in December last year for redevelopment works, which when completed, will create a new entrance and welcome area, including a new ground-floor gallery.

However, with summer rapidly approaching, Tullie has suggested that autumn is now a more realistic timeframe for a grand opening, although other aspects of the museum will be available throughout the summer.

Here's what our readers thought.

David Eyley asked: "On a broader issue, why is it these days that projects a) never finish on time, b) are over budget, sometimes by double or treble, and c) sometimes don't deliver what they should have?"

Denise Wood echoed this statement and said: "Why does everything run over the finish time? Should have time penalties on jobs like that and they get fined for every day over. Makes them work harder to complete by the deadline."

Edward Anderson shared his opinion: "I don’t like the mural on the outside wall, doesn’t reflect Cumbria or the history of Cumberland. It cost a lot of money that could have been better spent on items for the museum."

Adie Anderson said the delay was 'no surprise' which Joanne Wightman agreed with.
