WE shared the news that a beloved Carlisle restaurant is set to re-open its doors to customers later this year following its closure two years ago - with the new team saying they hope to bring back the venue's same classic charm with 'new enhancements'.
Adriano’s, a Roman villa-style restaurant at Rickergate, opposite the Civic Centre, closed back in September 2022 after 17 years in the city, falling victim to the energy crisis and staff shortages within the Cumbrian hospitality industry.
Here's what readers thought.
Sharon Kennedy said: "Excellent news, it’s been a huge miss, we will see you all later in the year, good luck to all the team."
Anita Day said: "Fantastic news, wheelchair friendly, can't wait."
Brenda Pennington said: "So glad, it was our favourite restaurant."

One web user said: "Good for them, I always enjoyed eating here."
Another commented: "Good to see another local business doing bits. Great news and best of luck. I hope the local people support you."
Another said it was 'fantastic news'. "What a hole this restaurant left in Carlisle's Italian food scene. There has been nowhere near a restaurant to compare. When the Sands reopens for shows it will thrive as it did for many years," they added.
