After experiencing ups and downs in the qualifying heats, the former Workington Comets racer, who now rides for Glasgow, breezed through the semi-final to earn a shot at his second riders’ championship against ex-Comets Kyle Howarth, Richard Lawson and Edinburgh’s Erik Riss.
Current Comet Ty Proctor also made it to the semi-final stage.
Cook, who had won the competition once before in 2012 while he was riding for Glasgow’s fierce rivals Edinburgh, went from third to first in one lap to win the title.
