Hensingham Under-13s stayed top of their league after crushing Cockermouth 66-6 when they travelled to take on the Titans last Wednesday evening.
Romeo Park was Hensingham’s top try-scorer, crossing for a hat-trick. Luca Hiddleston was also in fine form at loose-forward and went in for two tries and landed five goals.
Miller Dalton was close behind with two tries and four goals, and there were tries from McKenzie Groggins, Fletcher Holgate, Devon Sharp and Ethan Smith. Smith and Cody Meagan both landed a conversion.
The Titans points came from a try by Thomas Hind, converted by Fintan Hedley.
Kells kept the pressure on Hensingham after they came away with the points from Broughton. Their 36-6 win keeps them in second place, two points behind the league leaders.
A Mullen Robinson try plus a Reagan Scott conversion were the point-scorers for Broughton Red Rose.
In reply fFor Kells, Jamie Jennings crossed the Broughton whitewash on three occasions, Spike Canavan picked up a brace, and there was one apiece for Harley Nelson and Harvey Law. Nelson added four goals.
In the Sunday Under-14 league fixture, Hensingham shocked Wath Brow Hornets with a good 28-14 winning margin.
Hensingham were 22-4 up at break thanks to tries from Jamie Stanaway, Logan Connor and Romeo Park. Luca Hiddleston was in great form with the boot, the loose-forward converted all three tries and landed two penalty goals. Jack Conway was the try-scorer for the Brow.
The Hornets had a slight revival at the start of the second period, adding two tries in nine minutes. Aiden Kelly crossed the Hensingham line first, converted by Josh Hewitt. Then, four minutes later, Luke Spivey raced in at the corner to reduce the deficit to eight points at 22-14.
But Hensingham rode the storm and hit back with a match-winning six-pointer on 19 minutes when James Stanaway went in for his second try, to which Dalton Miller landed an excellent touchline conversion.
In the Under-16 fixtures, there were wins for Seaton Rangers in the League Cup and Hensingham in a league fixture.
Seaton travelled to take on Egremont Rangers in a rearranged League Cup tie and they booked their place in the next round after winning 40-20. Egremont scored tries through Ellis Trotter (2), Harry Lamb and Jay Conner. Luke Williams converted two.
For Seaton, Ciaran Walker put in a fine performance when picking up three tries and landing five goals. Jonathan Dodd crossed for two tries, with others coming from Jay Roach and Joe Crawford. Logan Kilgour kicked a conversion.
In the league fixture, Hensingham were away to Maryport and came away with the points with a convincing 46-4 win.
Harvie Hill crossed for a hat-trick of touchdowns for Hensingham, Lewis Whitehead, Taylor Richardson, Callum Oswald, Jack Telford, Eddie Mawson and Oliver Bibby all crossing for one apiece. Noel Branthwaite adding the extras on five occasions.
In the Dalton v Wath Brow Hornets fixture, it was a walk-over for the Brow as Dalton were unable to raise a team.
In Monday’s Under-12 fixtures, the top two -Wath Brow Hornets and Kells - came up against each other and it was the Brow who were the victors by a 20-12 scoreline.
The win puts Wath Brow six points clear at the top of the table. Harry Asquith ran in three tries for the Brow, with Jake Greenough also crossing the Kells whitewash, plus landing two conversions. Kells replied with tries from Calum Burns, Keenan Bowes and Thomas Eaves.
Lowca played hosts to Hensingham and went down narrowly when losing out 18-14. Ashton Quigley, Ryan Templeton, Henley Donnan and Luke Clements got the touchdowns for Hensingham, to which Clements added one conversion.
The win moves Hensingham into joint-second place with Kells, both on 10 points.
Broughton Red Rose had home advantage in their fixture against Maryport and they picked up their third win when beating their opponents 34-12.
Both Callum Fox and Alfie Hankin crossed for a hat-trick of tries in Broughton’s win, plus there was a four pointer from Reece Chilton. Fox was also on target with three successive shots at goal.
In reply for Maryport, Jack Greenhow raced over for three touchdowns.
