Crackenthorpe Waban won many hearts when he safely carried Cumbrian rider Sue Chappelhow-Lacey to church on her wedding day. With Sue’s sister Clare, the 10-year-old gelding has also proved he can win many prizes.

To date during 2019 the pair have won 20 out of 24 British Dressage classes, and qualified for Novice, Elementary and Medium BD regional finals.

They were most recently in action at Newton Rigg where they won both M69 and M76 classes. The other winners that day were Holly Hudson and Giovanni 2 who took the P17a and P19, Kathryn Woolgar and I Am Legend who won both the N23 and the N37A, and the E45 went to Liz Mather riding Bravour.

Sticking with Dressage – Jess Rawsthorne and Drummer, won their sections and overall in both Novice and Elementary at the recent Northallerton BD day. The judge said they were a super partnership producing a lovely flowing test.

And at Nord Vue’s unaffiliated Dressage show, Chloe Metcalf and Storm won the Intro A junior, while the senior went to Shirley Clarke and Beth. The Intro C junior winners were Olivia Armstrong and Tommy and the senior went to Jane Brain and Hardendale High Society. Gill Litt and Esther Rose won the Prelim 2 senior, John Thornton and Wonderland took the P12 and the Novice 28, and the Elementary 42 went to Caroline Wilson and Moors Lady.

There were trophies, titles and awards galore at the CFHS PC annual Prize Giving and Quiz evening, held at Penrith Rugby Club.

The Brackens Delight Trophy went to family pony Saxon, who’s now ridden by Matthew Watson and has competed on several area teams, including the mounted games and dressage teams. Matthew and Saxon also jointly won the Bobby Trophy along with Charlie Hall and Simon.

In the Overall Points section, the Senior was won by Emily Watson, the Intermediate by Molly Harrison, the Junior by Matthew Watson and the Mini by Sophia Stockdale.

Breanne Kelso won the Equivite Trophy for being Most Helpful Senior and also took the titles for both Area Dressage and Area Showjumping Intermediate.

Jon Fletcher was awarded the Cornerstone Plate as thanks for his considerable contribution and support of the Branch. As a CFHS member, Jon won the Open Boy Tetrathlon Championship and went on to represent GB at Modern Pentathlon.
