A former Carlisle United defender featured in Scotland's 2-0 defeat to the Czech Republic in their Euro 2020 opener.
Liam Cooper, who was on loan with the Blues in the 2010/11 campaign, was called into Steve Clarke's side for the Hampden Park clash.
But Leeds centre-half Cooper, who took the place of the injured Kieran Tierney, was unable to prevent the Czechs from spoiling Scotland's first major tournament game since 1998.
Patrik Schick was the two-goal hero for Scotland's opponents, netting with a header in the 42nd minute before beating the stranded David Marshall with a long-range second from halfway.
It left Scotland with it all to do in Group D after the first round of games.
They return to action against England on Friday.
Cooper is one of a cluster of ex-Carlisle men playing at the Euros, along with England pair Jordan Pickford and Dean Henderson, and the Netherlands' Tim Krul.
The 29-year-old defender made seven appearances under Greg Abbott after joining the Cumbrians on loan from Hull in January 2011, scoring once.
He subsequently played for Huddersfield and Chesterfield, and has been with Leeds since 2014.
