CUMBRIA Police have confirmed that no England fans were arrested as they took to the streets to celebrate.
Botchergate in Carlisle was blocked off to traffic as countless fans celebrated England's historic 2-0 win over Germany at Euro 2020.
Images of fans celebrating were shared on social media and the road had to be closed to traffic until the fans left.
Similar scenes were seen on the street during the 2018 World Cup, when England reached the semi-finals.
The result means the Three Lions are now in the quarter finals and will face Ukraine in Rome on Saturday.
After the match ended, fans took to the streets to celebrate - and while social distancing appeared to be forgotten, there were no incidents that forced police to take action on Botchergate.
The force has reminded people that while social distancing remains the advice from government as a way to protect yourself and others, it is not the law.
The police have no powers to legally enforce social distancing, and it is not illegal for people to be less than two metres apart from one another.
Any matters relating to licensed premises and coronavirus restrictions fall under the jurisdiction.
England's progression in the championships will no doubt be welcomed by pub landlords across Cumbria - many watering holes in Carlisle were fully booked for the match on Tuesday night, and there will likely be even more fans packing in for Saturday's game - where Covid-19 restrictions allow.
