Carlisle is set to welcome one of snooker’s most talented and accomplished players next week as Ronnie O’Sullivan will spend an evening discussing his career.
A six-time World Snooker Champion, ‘Rocket’ Ronnie will be appearing at the Station Hotel in the city next Saturday (11th) as part of his ‘Amazing Sporting Life Story’ tour.
During the course of the evening, O’Sullivan will be interviewed about his time at the table and away from it, from the early days of century breaks at the age of 10, through to the record 20 major wins, the 147s and the 1000 centuries that have been applauded by snooker fans around the world.
After the in-depth interview, audience members can ask O’Sullivan questions about his career. Attendees can get their picture taken with the snooker legend and his World Championship trophy before the event begins. Footage of his most memorable moments on the green baize will also be screened on giant viewing screens installed in the viewing area.
Approaching his 30th year as a professional, O’Sullivan won his first major title in 1993, beating Stephen Hendry in the UK Championship. He has been one of the toughest competitors on the circuit, and his quality still shows as he is currently ranked number three in the world standings.
A six-time World champion, O’Sullivan’s long list of achievements include holding the most UK Championship and Masters wins (both seven times) as well as winning the World Grand Prix and the Champion of Champions on several occasions.
Away from the table, Ronnie has written three crime novels, but it is his record-breaking performances around the world that has made him a much-loved sportsman. Ronnie stands alone as one of sport’s true characters in an age criticised for its lack of sporting personalities, which makes for an entertaining evening next Saturday.
Doors for the event open at 6pm, with the evening set to end around 10:30pm. Tickets are still available on the MJK Sports Events website.
