Workington Town fans are being encouraged to nominate their player of the year ahead of the club’s awards night later this month after a promotion-winning season.
The campaign has been like no other but ultimately one to celebrate as Chris Thorman's team secured promotion to the Championship for 2022.
We are calling on Town fans to nominate their ‘player of the year’ to be recognised at the presentation night on Saturday, October 30.
Here is your shortlist:
- Jamie Doran. The Town captain has led the club through a difficult year and was also shortlisted for League 1 player of the year award earlier this year.
- Caine Barnes. An essential part of the squad, Barnes scored two tries in the memorable play-off semi-final.
- Brad Holroyd. A star season at the club saw the full-back rack up many points as one of the leading scorers.
- Conor Fitzsimmons. Man of the match in the semi-final win against Keighley Cougars, Fitzsimmons also had a try in the final earlier this month.
- Matty Henson. The hooker, previously of Egremont Rangers has had a great first season at the club, being credited by coach Chris Thorman earlier this season as ‘surpassing expectations’ in his debut year.
- Carl Forber. The Town stalwart and legendary goal-kicker, Forber sealed his place after a great season at the club, inluding a dramatic winning golden point kick in the semi-final against Keighley.
- Marcus O’Brien. The loose forward has had an impressive season at the club, scoring a number of tries over the year including one in the promotion-clinching final game.
Voting for the award closes on Monday, October 25.
