Former Carlisle United man Harry McKirdy smashed FOUR goals to help Swindon Town to an emphatic victory over Northampton Town.
The frontman enjoyed the best goalscoring day of his career in the Robins' 5-2 League Two victory.
McKirdy opened the scoring in the 28th minute - and then ran riot after the Cobblers had fought back to lead 2-1.
In the second half the 24-year-old scored in the 51st, 55th and 66th minutes in a remarkable burst for Ben Garner's side.
It took his tally to 10 from 23 games this season and earned McKirdy praise from his boss.
“It was probably the best match of Harry McKirdy’s career I would imagine," Garner said.
"He has a great instinct and sometimes with Harry it is about him standing still for half a second but you know he will give you everything.
“He has threatened to do that across the season and we as a team have as well. We could have had eight or nine goals today."
McKirdy has revived his career at fifth-placed Swindon after a forgettable spell at Port Vale last term following his release from United.
The former Aston Villa man had netted 11 goals as the Blues' top scorer in the 2019/20 campaign before leaving Brunton Park that summer.
