Former Carlisle United midfielder Dean Furman has joined a new club in non-league.

The South Africa international has linked up with Workington Reds' ambitious rivals Warrington Rylands.

Furman's move to the Northern Premier League North West outfit was confirmed last night.

It followed the experienced midfielder's departure from National League club Altrincham.

Warrington Rylands - who sit third in a table currently led by Workington - said of Furman: "Dean possesses excellent technical ability, leadership and experience at the very highest level, boasting 58 international caps for South Africa."

Furman was with the Blues last season, joining after a pre-season trial and making 20 appearances, before being released at the end of the campaign.

The33-year-old former Rangers and Oldham man made 12 apearances for Altrincham where he played alongside new Blues defender Joel Senior.

Warrington Rylands are owned by Paul Stretford, one of England's most well-known agents, through his company Triple S Sports & Entertainment Group.

They won last season's FA Vase, and this season are seven points behind Workington. The sides meet at Borough Park in April.

Meanwhile, Carlisle United loanee Josh Dixon will be hoping to make his Reds debut today.
