Carlisle United's goalscoring woes continued with their 2-0 defeat to Sutton United at Brunton Park.
Fans took to Twitter to give us their views on the game. Here is a selection of their opinions.
Team selection was all wrong, first half performance appalling, second half slightly better, so many players off their game. I am not going to name individuals but these players are getting well paid for pretending to be footballers, huge improvement required from all (@matty017)
It always amazes how poor performances can spread through the team all at once, but two early goals and they know they're up against it and panic sets in (@LindaNi121202)
We can’t even consider playing in this division next season if we don’t look at out and out striker with proven experience (@riegaan)
I would love to see what Millen sees that we obviously don’t, that was the worst performance I’ve witnessed this season at home, what on earth has happened? We were starting to look so promising. After today's game it’s not a striker we need, it’s a miracle (@djtooley247)
Don’t look like scoring much or even occupying defenders. If we don’t get a proper striker in that’s criminal. Mellish and Whelan aren’t long term options in midfield. Guy needs taken off set pieces because he wastes so many. Still got to be the nicest/quietest team in the league (@leecrowe007)
Not many positives to take from that other than thankfully Sutton declared at half time or it could’ve been very embarrassing. Abysmal (@DRNoble25)
Awful. Looked miles behind Sutton. This isn’t a club coming up spending fortunes. They’ll have a lower budget than us but they have a plan. We don’t from the board all the way to the pitch. Then Millen goes, 'We did ok second half...' (@parkinsonross)
No attacking flair or ambition, soft in midfield that lacked legs and ambition to get forward. Manager needs to wobble his head and shake the wallet (@RobSjurseth)
Desperate stuff, there's absolutely no hint of quality or spark to the team. They all look like they can't wait for the full time whistle (@dougkerrrr)
As depressing as it gets. No idea what the game plan was today. Sutton just did all the simple things really well. That’s not a criticism of them, but it makes such a difference. Bennett is exactly the type of player missing from our team (@SamTJohnston24)
Rather watch two Under 16.5 teams in the Papa Johns than that (@mspoonz)
Surely can’t keep playing Mellish when we’ve got Riley on the bench. Senior and Howard the only players that can take anything out of that today which says it all (@dazadd8)
Does Millen not realise you need midfielders to create chances for forwards to score? So drop Mellish and Whelan and get Riley and Devine in there (@GeoffRo39583097)
My thoughts cannot be relayed in appropriate words (@richards_avril)
Lack of quality going forward, too many long aimless balls into areas that were too easy for their defence. Two shots on target at home is never going to produce any points (@bluearmy35)
I had covid last home game so I missed the game. After witnessing that I wish I still had it (@GreggBulman)
We have a mixed bag of players, some who are good enough but don't care enough and others who care enough but aren't good enough. Sad thing to say but it's as plain as the nose in your face (@brennyboy66)
Need an experienced striker who can hold the ball up. Free Joe Riley from HMP Millen and give Guy a rest (@Whitlam99)
Disappointed is an understatement (@spendercufc)
No words can explain that (@smithyblues)
I've seen worse, but that was the early 90s (@rocknrolo)
Concerning interview from Millen on the radio, the usual excuses about player recruitment appearing again, we’ve hit a brick wall with player recruitment it appears - any news from David H? (@keithelliott94)
Nine goals from 14 home games. Failed to score in eight of those 14 home games. Disgraceful (@cufcstuff)
Absolutely fantastic performance today. They should be applauded for keeping it below two against a former Conference side, that didn’t even have grass to this season. Special praise must go to Holdsworth today for the excellent negotiation skills to get these great players (Mullen103)
