Carlisle United striker Manasse Mampala earned praise from his new manager after his loan debut.

The Blues frontman went straight into the Weymouth side at Yeovil after joining the National League club on loan until the end of the season.

Mampala played for 89 minutes of the strugglers' 1-1 draw at Huish Park just hours after his move late on transfer deadline day.

And Terras boss David Oldfield said he was pleased with the 21-year-old's first contribution.

"I'm hoping he can add to us, and I think he did today," said Oldfield, speaking on his club's media channels after the game.

"It was a really good performance. We only just met him before the game, [but] he came in and worked, and ran, and really affected us.

"He did some really good things."

Mampala's move to the Dorset club was confirmed by United late on transfer deadline day.

It saw the former Everton and QPR striker become the fifth player to be loaned out of the Carlisle squad in recent weeks.

Mampala follows Taylor Charters, Josh Dixon, Tristan Abrhams and Lewis Bell in making a temporary move away from Brunton Park.

The summer signing has made 15 appearances for United in league and cup, scoring once.

Manager Keith Millen said of Mampala: "He hasn't played enough first-team games, and has to go and learn how to play week-in, week-out and show people what he can do."
