Carlisle United loanee Taylor Charters rounded off his first month’s loan at Gateshead with a late substitute outing in an emphatic victory.
Charters came off the bench in the 81st minute as the National League North leaders won 4-0 at Alfreton Town.
Blues boss Keith Millen plans to speak to the young Cumbrian midfielder over the prospect of him remaining at the north east club for longer.
Former United frontman Cedwyn Scott scored Gateshead’s first two goals, with Charters replacing Danny Greenfield late on and picking up a yellow card in added time.
Millen said last week of 20-year-old Charters: “If I felt that he would have an impact in the starting XI for us I would call him back, [but] I think the squad’s strong enough with what we’ve got – there are players I’ve brought in that I want to give some game time to.
“If it means him staying [at Gateshead] and getting more football then we’d do that.”
Charters’ fellow United loanees Manasse Mampala and Tristan Abrahams were also on the bench for their respective National League clubs.
Mampala did not get on as Weymouth drew 1-1 at home with Chesterfield, and has two appearances for the club to date.
Abrahams, meanwhile, came on in the 70th minute as Grimsby Town enjoyed a 3-1 win over Aldershot.
It was a sixth Mariners appearance for the frontman, who has yet to score for Paul Hurst’s side.
United’s other loanee Josh Dixon, did not get the chance to play on Saturday with Workington Reds not having a game.
Lewis Bell’s spell at Warrington Town is over after Millen and United recalled him early over a lack of game time.
