Carlisle United's Taylor Charters helped Gateshead to another victory which kept their title push on track.
The Blues loan midfielder started for the north east club as they overcame Chester 4-3.
Charters played the first hour as Mike Williamson's side edged a high-scoring contest at the International Stadium.
The Maryport midfielder came close to scoring in the opening stages against a visiting side featuring former United players Simon Grand, George Glendon and Louis Gray.
Gateshead's own former Blues, Adam Campbell and Cedwyn Scott, were among the goals with Campbell netting twice and Scott joining Greg Olley on the scoresheet.
Glendon netted for the visitors but second-placed Gateshead held on to remain a point behind leaders Brackley Town in the promotion race.
Charters, 20, is on loan at the club until the end of the season and will next be in action at Guiseley on Good Friday.
United's two other loan players were in opposition in the National League on Saturday -albeit briefly.
Tristan Abrahams' Grimsby Town were the visitors to Manasse Mampala's Weymouth.
Both players were substitutes and introduced by their respective managers in the 89th minute of the goalless draw on the south coast.
It was Abrahams' 13th outing for the seventh-placed Mariners, a spell which has so brought one goal.
Fellow frontman Mampala is goalless in six league outings for second-bottom Weymouth.
