Paul Simpson has revealed the “massive" boost that Morgan Feeney has been given a clean bill of health after heart tests.
The Carlisle United centre-half had been to Manchester for assessments last week after his substitution with palpitations at Walsall.
Initial checks had shown up nothing alarming but Simpson said United had wanted to take no chances.
And the United boss was delighted to report that further examinations had produced positive news for the popular centre-half.
“All the tests came back that there were no issues whatsoever, so we’re absolutely delighted,” Simpson told the News & Star.
“I think it’s been a massive relief for Morgs.
“We’ve done it all thoroughly, we’ve made sure it’s right, and he’s not had any issues and hopefully that was just a one-off [at Walsall] and it’s the end of it.”
Feeney, after his substitution on Good Friday, underwent an electrocardiogram test which showed no cause for alarm.
The 23-year-old, currently captaining the Blues, has remained in the team since then.
On the injury front, meanwhile, Tobi Sho-Silva will be further assessed after missing the Harrogate defeat with a knee injury.
Simpson said of the striker: “He picked up a bit of a jar on his knee at some point – he doesn’t know when it happened in training on Friday.
“He didn’t report it, he didn’t feel it straight away, but on Friday night he started to feel a bit of discomfort so we got him in on Saturday morning.
“Ross [Goodwin, United’s physio] assessed him and a decision was made that he was too sore and too much of a risk to have him involved in the game, so we made the decision to leave him out.
“We’ll see how he is at the start of the week and see if it’s just a few days to settle down or more long term.
“When you’re talking about knee and ligament it’s too risky and we’re not prepared to take any risks. It’s more important he’s right for pre-season and ready to go then.”
Jamie Devitt, meanwhile, remains on course for a return to action after his hamstring injury
He travelled with the squad to Harrogate and has a chance of figuring before the end of the campaign.
“He’s done absolutely brilliant, really, really well, and shown a great attitude to get himself fit,” Simpson added of the midfielder.
“He travelled with us, but there was no intention of him being involved.
“He wanted to come and be part of the group. I was happy for that to happen, because he’s a good character and personality to have there.
“He didn’t obviously have any effect [in that respect on Saturday] but he wasn’t responsible for how poor we were.
“It’s good to have him back.”
