One of the longest trips on the League Two calendar is off the agenda for Carlisle United in 2022/23 after Exeter City secured promotion.
The Grecians' 2-1 win over Barrow on Tuesday night was enough to send them up into League One.
The Devon outfit followed Forest Green Rovers into the third tier after coming from behind to beat the south Cumbrians at St James Park.
Having conceded early on to a Cameron Dawson own-goal, Kieran Phillips' deflected effort brought them level before Matt Jay's winner triggered scenes of celebration.
It left Matt Taylor's side eight points clear of fourth place with two games to go, with Exeter now level on points with Forest Green as the two south-west clubs vie for the title.
For Exeter it is a return to League One after an absence of ten years.
Elsewhere in League Two, Carlisle's next opponents Stevenage went down to a 2-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Mansfield Town.
Goals from George Lapslie and Matty Longstaff earned the points against third-bottom Boro for the Stags, who moved up to fifth.
Ex-Carlisle striker Richie Bennett was on target in a 3-0 win for Sutton United over Crawley at Gander Green Lane as the south London club stayed in the play-off hunt.
Alistair Smith got the other two goals for seventh-placed Sutton against a Crawley side managed by stand-in boss Lewis Young - a former Carlisle trialist - at a time boss John Yems is suspended over alleged racist comments.
The evening's other game saw Forest Green beaten 2-1 at Swindon Town, who kept their own play-off hopes alive.
Louis Barry and Jack Payne earned the points for the Robins with Josh March replying for the visitors. Swindon are eighth, two points outside the play-off places with two games remaining.
