Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson has offered his congratulations to league champions Carlisle City.
The Northern League Division Two side are celebrating after winning the title on the final day.
And Blues manager Simpson said the non-league outfit had brought pride to the city with their exploits.
The United boss – whose nephew Josh captains City – said: “It’s absolutely fantastic. Brilliant for them.
“I could see when they beat us in that county cup semi-final they had something about them.
“My nephew plays for them, he was captain on the night, and I’m absolutely delighted for them.
“I believe they won the county cup as well. So what a great double for them this season.
“We need to make sure we need to keep that positive feeling in Carlisle City and Carlisle United.”
City ended the season with a brilliant winning run which culminated in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Ryton and Crawcrook Albion at Gillford Park.
That, coupled with Heaton Stannington’s 2-2 draw at Easington Colliery, earned Jim Nichols' Cumbrians the title on goal difference.
