Former Carlisle United loan man Shamal George will face the Blues again next season after extending his deal with Colchester United.
The Essex club have exercised an option in George's contract to retain the goalkeeper's services.
The news was confirmed as Colchester announced their retained and released list at the end of the 2021/22 season.
George, 24, has been with Colchester for two campaigns and has made 50 appearances.
He has established himself at the JobServe Community Stadium, having earlier spent a season on loan from Liverpool with United in 2017/18, making seven appearances.
Colchester, who finished 15th in League Two, have meanwhile released Dean Gerken and Miles Welch-Hayes and opened talks with Emyr Huws over a new deal.
They have also released seven under-23 players.
