Relegated Oldham Athletic want ex-Carlisle United star Nicky Adams to remain at the club as they prepare for life in the National League.
The Latics say they are in contract negotiations with the experienced wide man.
It comes as Oldham become the latest club to confirm their retained and released list.
While Adams and Jack Stobbs are in talks, manager John Sheridan has released 13 players after the Boundary Park club fell into non-league.
That number includes 17-goal top scorer Davis Keillor-Dunn.
Attacking midfielder Dylan Bahamboula and defender Carl Piergianni are among the others let go by Oldham.
Also leaving are Kane Badby, Ousseynou Cisse, Raphael Diarra, Dylan Fage, Jamie Hopcutt, Kyle Jameson, Christopher Missilou, Tope Obadeyi, Danny Rogers and Callum Whelan.
Ex-Blues striker Hallam Hope is among those still under contract at the club.
"We would like to place on record our thanks to all the players who have not been retained for their contribution whilst at Boundary Park and we wish them well in their future careers," a club statement said.
Adams, 35, has been at Oldham since January 2021. He made 69 appearances for Carlisle from 2016-18.
