Tristan Abrahams' season is not over yet after his loan club earned a dramatic play-off victory last night - helped by an ex-Blues keeper.

Abrahams, on loan with Grimsby Town, came off the bench in the second half of their 2-1 victory over Notts County.

And the Mariners' win at Meadow Lane was boosted by keeper Max Crocombe, who claimed an assist in their late comeback.

Grimsby trailed to a Ruben Rodrigues penalty in the 73rd minute in the National League eliminator game.

Abrahams was then brought on for the last nine minutes of normal time as Paul Hurst's side tried to fight back.

And in the dying moments minute keeper Crocombe came up for a free-kick, and managed to nudge the ball into the path of Gavan Holohan, who fired the equaliser.

Mani Dieseruvwe then bundled home an extra-time winner in front of a 12,023 crowd.

It sent Grimsby through to a play-off semi-final against Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

For Abrahams it was a 19th outing for Grimsby since joining them on a half-season loan from the Blues in January.

The striker has scored four goals in that time.

Crocombe was on the Cumbrians' books in 2016/17, and has made 28 Grimsby appearances this season after joining the Blundell Park club from Melbourne Victory.

Manager Hurst described the events at Notts as "incredible" and added: "We spoke in the hotel about never giving up and you won't get a bigger example than that."

The other play-off eliminator tonight sees FC Halifax Town take on Chesterfield for the right to face Solihull Moors in the other semi-final.
