Tomas Holy has put pen to paper to become Carlisle United's second summer signing - but what should fans expect?

The goalkeeper has signed a two-year deal at Brunton Park and joins Owen Moxon as the first of the Blues' new recruits.

Holy comes with a large number of League One games under his belt courtesy of spells with Gillingham, Ipswich Town and Cambridge United - and also spent time in the fourth tier with Port Vale last season.

And we've taken a look at what two of his former managers and teammates have said about the goalkeeper - with some comments sure to enthuse Carlisle fans:

Mark Bonner, Cambridge United

Bonner swooped for Holy on a seven-day emergency loan deal in November 2021, with the stopper replacing Dimi Mitov after he suffered a concussion.

And the Cambridge manager was full of praise for Holy's impact - both on and off the field.

He said: “I thought his handling was good, he’s made a couple of good saves, his distribution’s been good and he’s really helped us and contributed.

“I think he’s really enjoyed it as well, and the boys have loved him. He’s been a brilliant character to have for a week.”

Luke Chambers, Ipswich Town

The experienced defender was effusive in his praise for the goalkeeper shortly after he joined Ipswich in 2019.

Indeed, he tipped Holy to draw attention from higher up the pyramid.

"He's a humble man," said Chambers.

"Every single ball that comes in the box in the air he comes and claims. What that does for a defender is absolutely incredible.

""We know that if the ball coming in isn't of the right quality then he is going to come and catch it. That means, as a defender, you don't have to get involved in things you really shouldn't be. That's a huge, huge bonus."

"The improvement I've seen from day when he arrived at the club to now is massive," he continued, when speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times.

"Huge credit has to go to (goalkeeper coach) Jimmy Walker and to Will Norris for pushing him and keeping on his toes. Every day he is getting better.

"For me, I don't think it will be too long before people are having a look at him."
