Carlisle United will be able to use five substitutes next season - after EFL clubs approved a rule change.
The Blues and their rivals were able to make the increased number of changes during the 2020/21 season as they returned to action following the COVID-curtailed 2019/20 campaign.
But that rule was dropped last season as clubs returned to the traditional three substitutes from seven named on the teamsheet.
Now, though, an additional two changes will be available to teams in the EFL - although they will still only be able to name seven players on the bench.
The changes can only be made during three stoppages in play, with half-time not counted as one of the stoppages.
EFL clubs met this week at the league's annual AGM, where discussions were also expected to be held over the future of the 3pm blackout for broadcasting fixtures.
