Carlisle United have confirmed the signing of Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson on a free transfer.
The 21-year-old joins the Blues on a two-year deal, and becomes the club's fourth summer signing.
The move reunites the frontman with Paul Simpson, with the pair previously having worked together during the Carlisle manager's time within the England youth setup.
Edmondson spent his formative years with Huddersfield Town and York City before joining Leeds in 2017.
He's enjoyed loan spells with Aberdeen, Northampton Town, Fleetwood Town and most recently Port Vale - for whom he scored three times after joining the Valiants in the January transfer window.
His two appearances for Leeds both came in the Championship, with most of his football for the Whites coming for their under-23 side in Premier League 2.
But having now moved to CUumbria, Edmondson addresses a major priority for Carlisle, who have been eager to bolster their attacking options after scoring just 39 times in the league last season.
And Simpson believes his 'throwback' stle of play will benefit the Blues.
"I think Ryan is a really good signing for us," he said, speaking to Carlisle's official website.
"He’s a player I know, he was involved in my England U19s, so I know of him and I’ve watched a lot of him.
“He’s had a bit of an up and down time with his loan moves, some have worked and some haven’t. He was unfortunate up at Aberdeen that he got injured.
“I wanted a big target man, he’s a bit of a throwback, but I wanted an old-school number 9. He absolutely works his socks off, he can get goals and get on the end of things.
“He can hold it up and create, and he’s a bloody pest for centre backs. He had a year left at Leeds and when we enquired about him I actually thought it would be too big of an ask, but I could only ask.
"The minute I spoke to his agent then eventually spoke to Ryan, and they were absolutely up for it."
