Carlisle United will NOT benefit financially from transfers involving Liam McCarron and Dean Henderson this summer.
That was spelled out by the club’s chief executive Nigel Clibbens at a fans’ forum last night.
United directors were asked if the Blues would stand to benefit from goalkeeper Henderson’s expected loan move from Manchester United to Nottingham Forest.
Carlisle have earned revenue from Henderson’s first-team appearances for the Red Devils, thanks to the terms of the deal that took the former Blues academy player to Old Trafford in 2011.
But similar proceeds will not be on the cards if he plays first-team football in the top-flight for Forest.

“Add-ons almost always relate to them being at their parent club, not being loaned out,” said Clibbens.
“So there won’t be anything if that player moves to a club on loan, as there wasn’t before when he [Henderson] was on loan at other clubs. That’s pretty standard.”
The Blues director also poured cold water on the possibility of United benefiting in the immediate future from Leeds’ sale of ex-Carlisle prospect McCarron to Stoke City this week.
The Appleby player moved for an undisclosed fee, with former Blues director of football David Holdsworth having said in 2019 that Carlisle had a “favourable” sell-on clause in the deal that took McCarron from Brunton Park to Elland Road.

Clibbens, though, dashed hopes of any immediate income from McCarron’s move to the Championship.
“I think previously David Holdsworth had said we had an interest in future profit on Liam McCarron,” Clibbens said.
“We’re not envisaging receiving any cash in this financial year from that transfer.”
Clibbens' comment did not rule out United potentially benefiting in future financial years.
The size of the fee which took McCarron from Leeds to Stoke has not been revealed.
