Cumbrian Nick Miller came 11th in the final of the men's hammer in the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
The Scotby star managed a best throw of 73.74m on Saturday night.
It came in Miller's latest top international outing.
His best effort in the final was some eight metres behind gold medallist Pawel Fadjek from Poland.
He prevailed with a throw of 81.98m, beating countryman Wojciech Nowicki into second with Norway's Eivind Henriksen taking bronze.
Miller had qualified for the final with a season's best throw of 77.13m, which was the ninth best in qualifying.
It was the fourth world final in which the Border Harrier, 29, has competed.
It came amid an exciting summer which will also see British record holder Miller defend his Commonwealth Games title in Birmingham.
