Carlisle United have suffered their first defeat of pre-season this afternoon.

The Blues went down to a 1-0 defeat to Livingston in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The game was played in Largs during United's week-long training camp north of the border.

Simpson gave 90 minutes to defenders Corey Whelan and Jack Armer.

Jamie Devitt also played the full game as he continues his bid for a contract.

Not involved, though, was defender Morgan Feeney after his substitution against Bolton on Saturday with a head injury.

There was another outing for recent signing Fin Back, with teenagers Gabe Breeze, Nic Bollado, Lewis Bell and Max Kilsby all coming off the bench.

The game was played amid warm conditions in North Ayrshire where Paul Simpson and his squad are spending several days this week.

The encounter with David Martindale's side was a sixth pre-season game for the Cumbrians and their second behind closed doors involving Scottish opposition, United having hosted Greenock Morton in a 1-1 draw last week.

Simpson and the squad will remain in Largs ahead of their last pre-season game at Morecambe on Saturday.

United: Holy (Breeze 62), Barclay (Ellis 62), Whelan, Mellish, (Gibson 74), Back (Bell 62), Devitt, Moxon (Guy 62), Hilton (Kilsby 74), Armer, Sho-Silva (Dennis 74), Edmondson (Bollado 62).
