Talented Cumbrian goalkeeper James Trafford has the world at his feet, reckons his club manager.

The Manchester City prospect, from Greysouthen, is impressing on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One.

Former Carlisle United academy kid Trafford, 19, is tipped for a bright future.

And Bolton boss Ian Evatt reckons the England Under-21 international has the attributes to go far.

“He is improving all the time," said Evatt in the Bolton News.

"I think he will probably be a bit disappointed with the second one last week [that Bolton conceded against Plymouth], but that shows you how high his standards are.

"He is a fantastic young player, a fantastic young goalkeeper and he is another one of those where the world’s his oyster.

“But for now it is about staying hungry, humble, hardworking, keeping your feet on the ground and continuing to improve.”

Trafford has overcome a minor injury concern in Bolton's 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic, where the young Cumbrian made some impressive saves.

The former Cockermouth junior was handed a new long-term deal at Man City in the summer.

He has been on the books of the Premier League champions since he was 12.
