Teenager Nic Bollado has been urged to make the most of his Carlisle United chance at a time senior forwards are sidelined.

The 17-year-old youth team player made his Football League debut as a late sub at Newport County on Saturday.

Bollado could be in the squad again at Grimsby Town tonight as Paul Simpson makes a late check on Omari Patrick’s fitness.

The promising young forward – whose senior debut also came last week in the Papa John’s Trophy against Fleetwood Town – is involved at a time other frontmen are out injured.

Along with Patrick, Ryan Edmondson and Tobi Sho-Silva have been on the sidelines.

Bollado came on for Jack Stretton in the closing stages at Newport, four days after a bright sub showing against Fleetwood.

Simpson said of the teenager’s outing in Wales: “I hope it’s the first few minutes of a long career for him.

“He’s another player who did well the other night to come into our thinking.

“Let’s be truthful, if Omari and Tobi and Ryan were fit, Nic maybe wouldn’t be involved.

“So he has to grab this opportunity while he can now, while we see how long it is for those three to come back.

“If he does enough to stay involved, fair play to him.”

Bollado was one of two teenagers given a debut against Fleetwood, with Ryan Carr also getting his first senior outing.
