Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens branded some Carlisle United fans a “disgrace” - claiming they threw coins at him and subjected him to “vile abuse”.
Wellens claimed a section of fans in the Paddock abused him throughout his side’s 3-2 win at Brunton Park.
Carlisle have pledged to investigate the claims coins were thrown during the game.
Some Blues supporters have also criticised the way Wellens and his staff behaved on the touchline.
But the Orient boss was adamant that he came in for unacceptable abuse.
“One thing I will say is the people behind the dugout, the home supporters, are a disgrace,” he said.
Showing a coin to the camera in post-match interviews, he said: “I only picked one [coin] up, but I’m a quid richer. But they’re throwing coins, and total abuse for 90 [minutes].
“I probably responded in a way celebrating after the game, but the FA need to look at it.

“Simmo and his team should be proud of the performance, and the majority of the crowd were really good.
“But you’ve got people constantly abusing you. And this isn’t football abuse. It’s vile abuse about your family members and your wife.
“Someone needs to step in. It’s a disgrace.”
Carlisle released a statement after the game saying the alleged coin-throwing was mentioned by referee Thomas Parsons in his report, and they were investigating.
Wellens, meanwhile, compared the atmosphere at Brunton Park to an FA Cup underdog occasion.
“It felt like you were playing an FA Cup game away at a lower-league club where the atmosphere was very, very good,” he said.
“Credit to [Carlisle]. They were very brave. We’ll take the result but you have to congratulate them on their performance. They pressed us high, never lost any energy.
“We need to get better at playing through the lines and taking it on the back foot, things like that.
“At 11v11 we were a threat – we looked like scoring more goals then than against ten.
“When they went down to ten men, we had a mindset of just passing about – we played all the possession in our own half.
“That’s quite easy to play against when you play down that side and don’t switch play. We never done that.”
Wellens felt his side did not perform as well as they could have with a man advantage, despite the victory that took them back to the top of League Two.
He added of the second half: “Their keeper’s got a huge kick. I don’t think people appreciate how windy it is here.
“Our two centre-backs won the majority of the headers but you always worry about second balls – they pick up a lot.
“Simmo’s got something good here, they’re a good team.
“This place sucks you in. Second ball game, horrible, long ball after long ball, they overload the wide areas, playing diag[onal]s.
“When the ball turns over we need to be clever and frustrate them and keep the ball. We didn’t do that. When the game went 10 v 11 they were the better team.”
