It is time to dream this weekend. Blues fans can fantasise about a money-spinning FA cup run…a run that could help pay off the club’s debts and boost boss Paul Simpson’s transfer kitty.

It seems a while since we had our last glamour tie – a clash with Everton in 2016. Wouldn’t it be great if we could reach the third round and go into the hat with the ‘big guns’ again?

That’s why, hopefully, the fans will turn out in good numbers at Brunton Park on Saturday when we entertain Tranmere in the first round proper.

The FA Cup may have lost some of its sparkle at the top end of the football pyramid but it is still where dreams can come true in the lower leagues.

And, who knows, perhaps the football gods will be smiling on the Blues.

It promises to be a keenly-fought battle against Tranmere. The clubs meet for the second time in eight days and Rovers will be like a wounded animal after suffering a rare home defeat at the hands of the Blues last Saturday.

Roared on by the fantastic support of nearly 1,000 travelling fans, United gave one of their best performances of the season.

But both the players and the fans will need to be up for it again if we are to progress to the next round.

Our fans were brilliant at Prenton Park and deserve to be applauded so let’s see the same positive enthusiasm this weekend.

The FA have triggered investigations into alleged incidents at recent United home games that could lead to serious repercussions.

CUOSC condemns any actions by fans, admittedly a tiny minority, that risks spoiling all the hard work the team, the management and the commercial staff are putting in.

CUOSC have introduced a new membership system that allows fans to join, renew and update their personal details online. We are asking members to check the details we hold and make any changes if necessary. You can do so by visiting our website at www.cuosc.org.uk

CUOSC representatives will again be in the Fanzone and the concourse under the East Stand before the Tranmere game.

To join it costs £10 for an adult for one year and £5 for seniors and under-18s. Benefits include 10 per cent discount in the club shop.
