CARLISLE United striker Omari Patrick could be in contention to play against Crewe or Doncaster, according to Blues boss Paul Simpson.

Patrick has been missing from Simmo's squad since October after picking up a hamstring injury.

The Blues play Crewe Alexandra on Thursday, December 29 and face Doncaster Rovers on New Years Day, with Simpson saying he has a decision to make about including the forward.

He said: "Omari has joined in training, he has joined in with the group today so we have a bit of a decision as to whether he comes in for the Crewe game, for the Doncaster game.

"If we don't need to force the issue we can wait and be patient and he has then got the fourteen days between Doncaster and Newport to get a real good base of fitness into him.

"If there is no setbacks then I would be very surpised if he's not involved in the Newport game, if it is not one of the ones before."
