With a drop of the shoulder and a clinical low finish, John-Kymani Gordon capped his Carlisle United debut with a memorable goal against Newport County.
In doing so, the 19-year-old Crystal Palace loanee became the latest Blues player to score on his first league appearance for the club.
Gordon’s second-half goal was the 112th occasion a player has marked his first United outing in the league with a goal.
It is a tally which includes some of the Blues’ greatest names, such as Jimmy McConnell, Alan Ashman, Jimmy Whitehouse, Ivor Broadis, Chris Balderstone, Hugh McIlmoyle, Billy Rafferty and Malcolm Poskett, many more Brunton Park favourites, a few less remembered heroes...and one or two who scored on second debuts.
