Barrow AFC boss Pete Wild said his side “disrespected” their own fans with their collapse at Carlisle United.
The Bluebirds manager described their second-half display at Brunton Park as “atrocious”.
While Wild insisted United’s opener should not have stood because of offside, he said that was no defence against the way his side then went under against Paul Simpson’s rampant hosts.
“For 44 minutes, I was really pleased. Their first goal’s four yards offside, which absolutely kills us,” he said.
“Going in at half-time 1-0 down is frustrating, because we’d done so well.
“But the second half…atrocious. I can’t keep coming out and defending individual mistakes.

“We’ve conceded four second-half goals from individual mistakes.
“Technically and tactically we can set them up but when they roll out on that pitch they have to stand up for themselves and haven’t done that tonight.
“I don’t like coming out and digging the players out. We’re all as one, but I can’t disrespect the fans and say anything different than that.”
Wild, speaking in a club interview, said defender George Ray did not get a touch on the Carlisle attack which led Jon Mellish to open the scoring, and claimed the goal should have been given offside.
He added, though: “But that hasn’t lost us the game. We lost the game because we have a knack at the moment of making individual errors that gift teams goals.
“We seem to put them on a plate. I’m perplexed by it all.
“If they keep making mistake after mistake, we’ll keep getting that and it’s highly frustrating.
“I have to look at the team and maybe take people out who can’t deal with that responsibility and put in players who can.
“Fans are fuming after that and so they should be. My job is to deal with it and put it right.
“I have a lot of things to think about, and a lot of work is needed to get to where we want to be.”
Wild conceded that Barrow had given 965 travelling fans little return for their support.
“I feel like we’ve disrespected them tonight,” he added. “That isn’t acceptable. I’m the man at the top, and I apologise massively for what’s gone on there.”
