Former Carlisle United defender Darren Kelly has left his role with one of the Blues' League Two rivals.
He has departed Newport County where he had been sporting director for a year and a half.
The south Welsh club said Kelly was set to join another club.
In a statement, Newport said: "Newport County AFC can confirm the departure of Sporting Director – Darren Kelly.
"Darren first joined the Exiles in June 2021, and now departs for a new opportunity closer to home.
"We thank Darren for his efforts and wish him every success in his next chapter."
Kelly has been linked with a possible role at his former club York City in the National League.
The former Oldham Athletic, FC Halifax Town and Hyde United manager was a United pkayer from 2002-4 after joining from Derry City in a £100,000 deal during Roddy Collins' Brunton Park reign.
