He was an impressive midfield servant over several seasons in Carlisle United's 1970s.
And Phil Bonnyman was back at Brunton Park on Saturday as the latest legend welcomed back by the Blues.
Bonnyman, who starred for the Cumbrians from 1976-80, was United's guest at their 2-0 victory over Grimsby Town.
The Scot, 69, was introduced to the crowd at half-time as he performed the Golden Gamble draw.
Bonnyman joined United in the 1975/6 season and played for the Blues in the Second and Third Divisions.
He was part of teams managed by Dick Young, Bob Moncur and Martin Harvey.
The Glasgow-born star made 152 league appearances, scoring 26 goals, in his time at Brunton Park.
He joined the Cumbrians from Hamilton Academical, having been with Rangers in the early 1970s.
He later went on to play for Chesterfield, Grimsby Town, Stoke City, Darlington and Dunfermline Athletic.
Bonnyman is the latest former Brunton Park favourite to be invited back to the club on a matchda.
The previous home game saw First Division legends Bobby Owen, Les O'Neill and Peter McLachlan back at the club.
Before that, promotion-winning goalkeeper Trevor Swinburne was United's guest.
