PSV Eindhoven remain keen on a permanent deal for highly-rated Cumbrian defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Latest reports in the Netherlands say the Dutch club, where Branthwaite is on a season-long loan, are still eager to keep the Wigton star.

PSV failed in a permanent bid for the ex-Carlisle United man in January but have made little secret of their admiration for 20-year-old Branthwaite.

The Cumbrian, who is on loan from Everton, has impressed in a run of regular starts for Ruud van Nistelrooy's side.

But he has also attracted interest from a number of other clubs, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Roma among those linked with Branthwaite.

Any permanent move for the young central defender could be of interest to his first club Carlisle, who could benefit through a sell-on clause following his move from the Blues to Goodison Park in January 2020.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, relaying news from Eindhovens Dagblad, confirmed PSV remained hopeful of a permanent deal for the big defender.

Branthwaite is getting regular first-team football with PSV and has been a consistent starter in league and cup in recent months.

He has helped them into the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup, while they sit fourth in the Eredivisie.
