Swindon Town 1 Carlisle United 2: Sub Ryan Edmondson headed a 96th minute winner as Carlisle claimed a fourth straight victory in dramatic style.
The striker, on his first appearance since December, converted an Owen Moxon corner at the back post.
It was the last chance of the game - and sent United's 558 travelling fans into ecstasy.
Edmondson's last-gasp goal kept United second in League Two with 11 games to go.
Things had seemed to be petering out into a 1-1 draw after Jack Armer's impressive opener was wiped out by home sub Tyrese Shade.
But the Blues' late show kept their bandwagon rolling.
Boss Paul Simpson made one change to last weekend's side, bringing Joel Senior back in for Jordan Gibson at right wing-back.
There was a welcome return for fit-again striker Edmondson to the bench, as he took Jayden Harris's place in the squad.
Swindon chief Jody Morris made three changes, as Jake Cain, Jacob Wakeling and debutant Tom Brewitt came into the side.
A first half low on quality saw Alfie McCalmont's early counter-attack intercepted by a good Cain challenge, before Swindon threatened through Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, who drilled across goal after breaking onto Jonny Williams's pass.
Hepburn-Murphy's pace was an early danger but few real chances resulted. Callum Guy and Jacob Wakeling both entered ref Sam Purkiss's notebook, while the offside flag denied Hepburn-Murphy when clean through.
Carlisle did well to block a long-range Charlie Austin shot, and steadily built some pressure in the Swindon half, but Omari Patrick and Senior couldn't make the most of good positions, while Morgan Feeney missed the target from a Armer corner.
Joe Garner tested keeper Sol Brynn with another header before a good Cain challenge prevented McCalmont from shooting from a good position.
At the other end, Feeney, Paul Huntington and Callum Guy all threw themselves in the way of a Hepburn-Murphy shot, before Carlisle came closest on 42 minutes, when a free-kick eventually broke for Armer - but Remeao Hutton blocked his finish at close range.
A sliced Mellish interception landed for Hepburn-Murphy in the box but the Swindon man couldn't make anything of the header, and that summed up an opening 45 minutes that will not live very long in the memory.
The second half then burst into life after Hepburn-Murphy had been flagged offside when clean through.
Carlisle built pressure down the left and in the 51st minute made the breakthrough.
First, a Moxon corner was headed against his own bar by Austin - but when the hosts cleared it to the edge of their box, Armer arrived with a superb right-footed half-volley that flew into the top corner.
It was a memorable way to grab his second goal of the season and give Carlisle a platform.
Swindon almost levelled three minutes later, Austin heading a free-kick just wide, before Senior fizzed a cross just out of Armer's reach in the six-yard box for United.
Swindon boss Morris responded with a triple change on 66 minutes - Ronan Darcy, Tyrese Shade and Marcel Lavinier coming on - while Simpson then introduced Edmondson and Gibson for Garner and McCalmont.
Moxon drilled a free-kick into the wall as United looked for a killer second, before a spell of Swindon pressure saw Wakeling fire wide from the corner of the box.
The Blues, though, couldn't hold the Robins off and an 80th minute attack saw them level, as Carlisle struggled to defend the right of their box and Lavinier fed Shade to rifle home.
Simpson sent on JK Gordon in place of Patrick for the closing stages, Luke Jephcott replacing Wakeling for Swindon, Carlisle in need of another gear after spending much of the period since opening the scoring on the back foot.
It did not look like coming - but a cheaply-conceded corner gave United one last chance.
And when Moxon picked out Edmondson, Carlisle grabbed the points in the most dramatic fashion.
