Swindon Town boss Jody Morris insisted his side didn’t deserve to go down to a last-gasp defeat by Carlisle United.
Morris felt his team looked the likely winners the longer things went on at the County Ground.
But the Robins were crushed by Ryan Edmondson’s injury-time header as Carlisle won 2-1.
“It was a catalogue of errors which led to their winner which they didn’t deserve,” said Morris. “Our boys didn’t deserve for that to happen.”
The Town boss admitted his side were “naïve” in the crucial moments which led to Carlisle’s victory.
He felt his players otherwise stood up to United’s “direct” style and played their way into a position where they might easily have won.
Sub Tyrese Shade cancelled out Jack Armer’s Carlisle opener before Edmondson’s late show for the second-placed Cumbrians.
“I’m absolutely gutted,” added Morris in a club interview. “I just said to the boys that I think there was one team in that for the last 25 minutes or so.

“We played some good stuff, played our way back into it, and then if you’re looking at both teams, you’re thinking there’s only one team that’s going to win that and that would be us.
“I thought we had real good opportunities to score more goals. The final pass just let us down. We missed a chance or two, but there was no way we were thinking they were carving us open.
“The cause of our problems was us ourselves. We defend poorly for giving away the first corner, which was cheap, and then the fella [Armer] scores a goal with his weaker foot – if you ask him he probably hasn’t scored a half-volley like that in his career and probably won’t again.
“After that we’re chasing the game, and for what reason I don’t know, we try and make passes in our own box when we’re actually calling for them to get up the pitch to try and nick the winner.
“Then the defending on the set-piece is really bad.”
Morris, whose side dropped a place to 12th, admitted he was torn between criticising and praising his players.
“They played some of the best stuff I’ve seen since I’ve been here,” he added.
“But there was naivete, immaturity…I think we needed a bit of experience on the pitch.
“I didn’t feel comfortable defending the corners but I felt comfortable in open play.
“We went through set-pieces before the game longer than we have done, because we gifted Leyton Orient a goal [in the previous game]. I said to make sure we’re not gifting them goals on set-pieces. For it to cost us at least a point is disappointing.”
