Carlisle United loan defender Max Kilsby helped Annan Athletic to a clean sheet in his latest outing for Peter Murphy’s side.

Kilsby played the full game as Murphy’s side drew 0-0 with Stranraer at Galabank.

The derby draw was 19-year-old Kilsby’s 24th league appearance for Annan.

While Murphy’s side kept the back door locked, they could not find a way past their opponents despite some near misses after the break.

Aidan Smith hit the post with Steve Swinglehurst also going close.

The draw saw Annan overtaken in Scottish League Two by East Fife, who moved up to third, two points above Murphy’s men ahead of their meeting at Bayview next weekend.

There was also a goalless draw for United striker Sam Fishburn in his latest outing for Morpeth Town.

The Blues frontman was back on the bench for the Highwaymen for their Northern Premier Division Premier League trip to Stafford Rangers.

Fishburn, 19, was introduced in the 84th minute as Morpeth, after a solid defensive showing, looked for a late winner.

But they had to settle for a point on the road which sees them 17th in the table.

From United’s youth ranks, Kai Nugent played his part in a welcome return to form for Workington Reds.

The young Blues midfielder started for Danny Grainger’s side in their 3-0 win over Glossop North End.

Nugent, 17, played the full game as goals from Scott Allison and two from David Symington earned the points for Reds, who are third in NPL West.

At Cleator Moor Celtic, meanwhile, United’s Dan Hill got his latest start in their home clash with leaders Pilkington.

The west Cumbrians went down 2-0 thanks to goals from Scott Sephton and Callum Laird as they remain bottom of North West Counties First Division North.

Young United pro Lewis Bell, meanwhile, was in action for Gretna 2008 in their away clash with leaders The Spartans in Scotland’s Lowland League yesterday.

Winger Bell played the full game as Gretna went down to a 3-0 defeat, goals from Brad Whyte, Rhys Armstrong and Mikey Allan sealing victory for the Edinburgh outfit.

Gretna remain 17th in the table.
