Carlisle United’s Warwick Road End fans have unveiled some big new banners as they encourage fans to turn Brunton Park into a sea of blue and white on Friday.

The young supporters have been instrumental in boosting the colour and atmosphere of United matchdays this season.

And now they have revealed plans to make the Good Friday game against Tranmere Rovers - a game set to attract a 10,000+ crowd - another memorable occasion.

Two long banners have been put in place at the front of the home terrace at the Blues’ ground.

They feature the phrases ‘SIMMO’S BLUE ARMY’ and the motto ‘BE JUST AND FEAR NOT’.

There will also be 100 blue and white waving flags for fans to use as the teams take to the pitch on Friday.

And six more special flags, featuring individual designs based on United’s past, present and future, will also be on show on Friday.

It is all part of the @warwickroadend’s recent initiatives, which have included a crowdfunding scheme to make the terrace more vibrant and colourful.

The young fans also recently gave up their half-term holidays to paint the Warwick Road End.

They say a sea of blue and white can help make Friday’s game one to remember as United seek a victory to reignite their promotion push.

The young fans are working alongside the club on the initiatives and said of this Friday’s game: “We urge you to bring anything blue and white, whether that be a scarf, hat or a flag, and flood the WRE in our proud colours.

“It’s been a fantastic season so far – let’s give our special team a special atmosphere.”

They added that with seven games to go, fans can play their part after the “tremendous” support already seen this season behind Simmo’s team.

Warwick Road End fans were at Brunton Park today putting the new flags - designed by United fan Rob Morley - in place.

Of the 100 blue and white waving flags, the young fans said: “The waving flags are stored in bins at the back of the stand.

“Please take one, to be waved as the teams emerge. The aim is to encourage a sea of blue and white.

“We encourage people to bring their own flags, scarves etc too! Please do not abuse this privilege.

“Any misuse of flags may result in us being unable to use in the future which would be a shame following the donations and work put in to enable this display.

“Please also ensure flags are placed rolled up back in the bins at the end of the match!

“We thank the club for their co-operation on bringing this vision to reality. UP THE BLUES!”

Friday's game is set to see the biggest home crowd of the season following the Blues' #10for10 ticket offer, which sees entry reduced to £10.
