Rising Cumbrian goalkeeping star James Trafford underlined his growing reputation with an award at Bolton Wanderers.
The Manchester City loan keeper was named young player of the season at the promotion-chasing League One club.
Trafford, who shared the award with Conor Bradley, has shone for the Trotters, who are in the third-tier play-offs.
The Greysouthen star, 20, has kept 26 clean sheets in 50 appearances so far in 2022/23.
England Under-21 keeper Trafford is hoping to add promotion success to the Papa John’s Trophy which he helped Bolton win this season.
He has said, though, that he is unlikely to return to the club next term whether or not Bolton win promotion.
Speaking to the BBC, Trafford said: “I’m totally focused on the present and the now, which is trying to achieve promotion. [But] I think next season doesn’t include Bolton regardless of the division.”
The former Carlisle United academy keeper has been tipped for a more senior role at his parent club.
In the meantime Trafford will complete Bolton’s campaign with a trip to Bristol Rovers on Sunday, before the play-offs.
He is also likely to be involved for England’s Under-21s in the European Championships this summer.
Trafford told BBC podcast The Wanderer that he was delighted with how his time at the University of Bolton Stadium had gone.
“When I joined 18 months ago the gaffer and staff put a lot of faith in me and I’ve repaid it,” he said.
“If I hadn’t joined Bolton it would have been a different story and journey. Bolton have exceeded all expectations and it’s provided a massive part of my journey so far.”
